Products

Over more than 50 years of activity, the Scarlino plant has built a solid reputation as a leading global producer with extensive expertise in sulfate-based TiO₂, offering a wide range of rutile and anatase pigments marketed worldwide under well-established brands.

Our products are used across a wide range of industries:

Inks

Designed to meet the highest requirements of ink, toner and packaging manufacturers, including both external coatings and internal food-contact applications, helping to deliver a consistent, high-quality finish.

Coatings

From water- and solvent-based decorative paints to industrial coatings, including automotive applications, and high-weather-resistance enamels for wood and metal surfaces in the marine and aerospace sectors.

Plastics

TiO₂ grades for the plastics industry, suitable for use with a wide range of thermoplastic polymers such as PE, PP, PS, ABS, PET and PA. They are used in the production of masterbatches, BOPP films and general compounds, which are then converted into consumer goods for the packaging, fashion, agriculture, automotive, furniture and medical device sectors, delivering the required opacity and hiding power, as well as resistance to heat and weathering.

Fibres

Anatase TiO₂ grades for synthetic fibres, including polyamide, polyester and acrylic fibres used in the apparel industry. The use of anatase TiO₂ ensures high technical performance, improving strength and long-term durability.

Cosmetics, Personal Care, Pharmaceuticals and Food

The APurity anatase product line consists of high-purity anatase TiO₂, offering broad potential for a wide range of formulations in beauty, cosmetics, personal care and home care applications. It provides opacity, colour, radiance, long-lasting performance and UV protection. Thanks to its high purity, the product can also be used in the food sector, in compliance with all applicable mandatory regulations and reference standards in the food and beverage industry across the relevant export markets.

Infrared-Reflective Titanium Dioxide

Among the latest innovations developed by the Scarlino site’s Research & Development team, the award-winning IR-ALT 550 and IR-ALT 800 products are used in a wide range of formulations for the coatings, plastics, inks and fibres sectors, thanks to their outstanding infrared-reflective properties.

Originally developed for the construction industry to help reduce building temperatures, IR products are now widely used in highly specialised applications, including security inks for the banking sector and synthetic fibres for technical apparel.

When incorporated into exterior paints and coatings, IR-ALT 550 and IR-ALT 800 reduce the amount of infrared radiation absorbed by building surfaces, significantly lowering surface temperatures. This enables the use of a broad colour palette, from light shades to very dark colours, including black, while maintaining thermal performance.

IR products are also extensively used in plastic applications, particularly in construction materials such as PVC window profiles and outdoor plastic decking, where they help preserve product characteristics while enhancing long-term durability.

Today, IR-ALT 550 and IR-ALT 800 continue to find application in an increasing number of formulations and industries, delivering benefits that range from improved thermal management and reduced cooling costs in buildings, to enhanced security features in banking inks and protection in technical garments incorporating polymer-based fibres.
